Crustaceans cannot free themselves
from wire mesh creels very easily, so if a trap is lost there is a genuine risk that the trap will continue to fish. By hog-ringing a mesh panel into the trap using two stainless steel rings and two degradable steel
rings which will rust out in 3 months the problem of ghost fishing is addressed (and the panel is retained). (photo)
